(Matthew 22:36) 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?. . .
And the governing body said, "shun your family and drive them to shame".
the april 2012 wt study article has some of the most strongly worded statements about contact with disfellowshipped family members.. page 12, paragraph 17: -.
good that can come when a family loyally.
upholds jehovahs decree not to associate.
(Matthew 22:36) 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?. . .
And the governing body said, "shun your family and drive them to shame".
check this paragraph from the article about how jah spared noah, the israelites at the red sea, etc.... scary!.
pg 26 para 16. as events unfold during the great.
tribulation, christians will need to heed.
Exactly how does James 3:17 teach us that we should obey these idiots?
i'm just going through the latest april 15th watchtower, and in particular the study article entitled "betrayal - an ominous sign of the times".. predictably, the article has a lot to say about the perils of being disloyal to god and his organization.. it gives examples of three wicked individuals:.
coniving delilahtreacherous absalomtraitorous judas iscariotthen notice the summary paragraph (pages 9 and 10):.
what have we learned from these warning examples?
11 Peter did not reason that Jesus
must have the wrong view of things and
that if given time, He would recant what
He had said. No, Peter humbly recognized
that Jesus had "sayings of everlasting
life." Likewise today, how do
we react if we encounter a point in our
Christian publications from "the faithful
steward" that is hard to understand
or that does not match with our thinking?
We should try hard to get the sense
of it rather than merely expecting that
there will be a change to conform to our
viewpoint.
I like how they equate themselves with Jesus as well.
On second thought, don't they, the faithful steward continuously recant Jesus words?
Constantly changing what Jesus meant by "generations"?
i was interested to read the life story of leonard smith in the latest april 15th watchtower (now available for download at www.jw.org).
it's not every day i notice a brit getting to relate his life story in the literature, so this peaked my curiousity.. i chuckled to myself when i stumbled on the following anecdote on page 21:.
is it just me, or is that not just a thinly-veiled way of saying "shut up with your moaning, and get back to work!"???.
What ever happened to "Don't Worry Be Happy"?
before everyone gets the wrong idea about creating an "empowering jws" forum, this forum would be for serious campaigners to exchange ideas about helping jws by either influencing the wtbts to change or planting seeds of doubt in jws, and would not be for promoting the wtbts nor its policies.. since jwn threads have gotten so numerous and effectively using jwn's search engine is a mystery to me, i believe that creating a forum for posting ideas to awaken jws would benefit both jws and exjws, who want to do more than debate religion and relate how they were abused by the wtbts/jws, and who want to help awaken loved ones.
i feel that the forum should be named "empowering jws" to paraphrase steven hassan's book "releasing the bonds: empowering people to think for themselves" and because i do not want to alienate jws with doubts be calling it something derogatory that may raise a jw's persecution phobias.. also, jwn might appear more welcoming to jws, if there was a recommendation that posters refrain from labeling jws jdubs, borg, witlesses, etc.
i know that many members of this forum were hurt by the policies of the wtbts and that some jws were jerks to them, but that does not mean that all jws are jerks.. peace be with you and everyone, who you love,.
Well i was a witless in the past but this site empowered me.
life is the greatest value.. for ordinary humans self-preservation is the beginning of all other values.. without life no other values are even possible.. religiously speaking, this is especially true!.
a dead person cannot worship a living god.
when death becomes a valuable purpose it exposes a core insanity.. .
It is so funny because the entire reason to look to religion in the first place is to preserve your life! And oh how many lives has religion taken?
Wars, wacky beliefs, hatred.
jws will not go to war since they might have to take a life and yet they will let their child die. Just becuase the groping body say too!
so i talked to my dear aunt who is disfellowshipped but still has to interact with my elderly jw witness and masquerading jw aunt (really doesn't agree with the jw doctrine, but lives with my grandmother to take care of her) and she told me that there are now two watchtowers published, one that they use for congregation and the other for their "field service".. why do you suppose they are really doing that?
is it because they are trying to keep things from the public eyes?
i was really surprised to hear that..
My vote is all of the above!!!
if any of you go to jw.org and look at magazine pdfs for a laugh or a shiver, you should have seen this gem in the march 15, 2012 study edition!
to long for the good old days.
the old days better than these days?
Let's see, what are my thoughts about the good ole days? Hmm, well I agree with others that my past before jw was much better. Best memories have to do with family and freinds something the watchtower always finds a way to come between. It seems to me that an article of this sort would be counter productive?
It's funny when i stop and think about it. None of my favorite memories have to do with wt. Just family and freinds. Oh those precious moments!
this weekend assy first day thankfully over!
had a good laugh at arrogant prick do last talk saying apostates are to be "loathed" and used a scripture in psalms that simply had the word "loathe" in it to support his weak point.
im gonna happen by him tomorrow and tell him his final talk had such an impact on me i tore out proverbs, ecclesiastes, and song of solomon out of my bible cause those books were written by an apostate.
what I like about this forum is that everyone is allowed there opinion and we can all get along regardless.(well for the most part) But the watchtower can't allow for such and so they loathe those that do not think like them.
I think the fact that believers and unbelievers can respect one another and yet the wt only respects there own should be telling enough.
So i would say that anyone that loathes another is the guilty party!
i mean, the 'watchtower society'?
just the name connotes some weird, masonic, secretive organization!.
how did we ever fall for this!.
The funny thing is that i never really did. Guess thats why i'm here. Just loved the people in the congregation. Of course years later i can't get out because my family is in.
